The term "godron" is an old word that mainly referred to features specific to goldsmiths from the 14th century onwards. These were metalwork decorations representing repetitive motifs in hollows or swellings, offering rounded volumes. As fashions evolved and collars became more prominent in the 16th century, the imposing gadrooned burrs became part of the costume, an accumulation of pleats in the often starched lace. With this bracelet, we return to the very essence of the vocabulary of the late Middle Ages. The work of embossing the gold into bulging canulas demonstrates uncommon jewellery-making dexterity and, above all, a jewellery fashion that would establish this motif between the 1970s and 2000s.
