IMPORTANT AND FINE KACHAN KORK RUG (Iran, circa 1960-1970) Ruby-red field decorated with sprigs of polychrome flowering palmettes surrounded by serrated leaves and adorned with a central multicoloured floral medallion in the form of a stylised diamond. Four spandrels with wreaths of flowers and foliage, motifs echoing the central medallion. Seven borders, the main one midnight blue with interlacing fine crenellated stems in the form of stylised rams' horns inlaid with polychrome floral bulbs. Velvet, silky quality lambswool on cotton backing. Density: approximately 7000 knots per dm². L. 348 x W. 250 cm. (Beautiful polychromy. Good condition)
