IMPORTANT AND FINE KACHAN KORK RUG (Iran, circa 1970-1975) Beige field decorated with scrolls of fine twisted crenellated stems ending in palmettes of flowers and foliage delicately drawn in old gold, celadon, sky blue, ochre and pearl grey, framing a central pale green floral medallion in the shape of an elongated diamond, surrounded by two stylised oil lamps. Four spandrels with floral crowns in the same tones as the central medallion. Three borders, the main one bronze green, decorated with interlacing fine crenellated branches inlaid with finely drawn floral bulbs. Velvet of fine and remarkable lambswool kork, silky on cotton foundations. Density: approximately 7000 /7500, knots per dm2. L. 390 x W. 254 cm. (Good general condition, very fine)
