IMPORTANT, FINE AND ORIGINAL KACHAN KORK RUG (Iran, circa 1965- 1970) Signed: Kachan, workshop of Mètre Akhavan. Ruby red field decorated with polychrome stylised foliage and flower scrolls and garlands of palmettes framing a central midnight blue and ivory floral medallion in the form of a pendant surrounded by two symmetrical stylised oil lamps. Four spandrels with motifs echoing the central medallion. Seven borders, the main one midnight blue with interlacing fine stems inlaid with finely drawn flower bulbs and palmettes. Velvet, silky lambswool on cotton backing. L. 345 x W. 250 cm. (Carpet has been cleaned and is in good condition).
