IMPORTANT ROMAN MARBLE HEAD OF AMAZON. Ca. AD 150. A fine marble head of an Amazon carved with the hair centrally parted and arranged in broad, undulating waves that sweep back from the brow and gather into a deep circumferential roll above the nape. Softly modelled eyelids frame smooth, almond-shaped eyes set beneath delicately arched brows. Short, curling locks fall over the temples and around the ears. Mounted.
