H. 113 cm - W. 95 cm Historical background In 1881, Marseille brewer Eugène VELTEN built a brewery in Lyon, in what is now the "Industrie" district, which was to become the largest in France. Initially called Brasserie Eugène VELTEN, then VELTEN S.A. and Société des Nouvelles Brasseries Lyonnaises (SNBL), it merged with Brasserie RINCK (owner of Brasserie GEORGES) in 1966 to form Union des Brasseries Lyonnaises. It finally closed in 1978.
