An important "Commode médailler" in marquetry, based on a model made for Louis XV in 1738 by the cabinetmaker Antoine-Robert Gaudreaus, to a design by the Slodtz brothers. Opening to two doors revealing four drawers. Exuberant ormolu decoration, combining scrolls, palms, ribbons, garlands of flowers and antique medallions in the then triumphant Rococo style. Resting on four feet decorated with "Têtes de béliers" and topped with a white marble shelf. French work. Early 20th century. Size: +/-97x192x64 cm.
