An important console table in wood, finely carved and gilded, resting on two large confronting Cs carved at the top with heads of fauns topped with acanthus leaves. The two feet resting on a griffin are joined by a brace adorned with a large cartouche topped with an antique-style helmet adorned with a phoenix. The carved belt is adorned with a mascaron of grimacing fauns wearing feathers and acanthus leaves and foliage.

Attributed to Bernard Honoré TURREAU known as Bernard Toro born in Toulon in 1672 and died in the same town in 1731.

Toro made numerous consoles, doors and various pieces of woodwork for his customers in Provence. In 1716, he published a collection of his models and various ornaments comprising 115 plates engraved on copper with etching or burin by Charles-Nicolas Cochin, François Joullain, etc. and published by Dubuisson.
