Important and fine TAPESTRY FROM BRUSSELS, Flanders The Panther Hunt Wool and silk. The upper part shows a castle against a background, in perspective, hunters surrounded by dogs chasing a panther and in the lower centre, a panther surrounded by animals and finely drawn foliage. A wide border with compositions of fruit, flowers and foliage surrounded by figures, including the Muses of Art (particularly the Muse of Music). This tapestry is similar to the tapestries in the Wawel Castle in Krakow, Poland. Early 17th century. H: 300 - W: 360 cm Fairly good condition.
