An important pair of embroidered curtains, made in the Canton workshops for export, China, late 19th century, sky-blue satin jasper amply embroidered with polychrome silk in the flat and shaded past tones of a lakeside landscape with pierced rock, tree peonies and a gnarled flowering branch sheltering peacocks, pheasants and a multitude of birds. Lined, (one with a damaged right edge, one with a tear in the lining), embroidered signature at the bottom, 360 x 148 cm.
