Lot no. 275
An important ormolu vestal clock, the dial surmounting a fountain, flanked by two torches and a wreath of flowers on one side and a young woman wearing a medallion on the other; the two children playing on the cushion probably represent Remus and Romulus. The whole rests on a rectangular base decorated in low relief with mythological scenes probably depicting the life of Rhea Silvia.
