Adolf Glatte was a German Impressionist landscape and portrait painter. Born in Häslicht, Silesia (now Kostrza, Poland), he studied in Paris, among other places, before settling in Munich. During his time in Paris, Glatte came into contact with French Impressionism, which had a lasting influence on his artistic work. His works are attributed to Late Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. He mainly painted landscapes from the area around Munich, capturing the impressions of nature in atmospheric pictures. Glatte was a member of the Munich "Neue Secession" and the "Juryfreien" and regularly exhibited his works. His work was praised by contemporaries as "skilful landscape art". Today, Glatte's works can be found in public institutions and museums, for example in the Evangelical Church in Saarburg. - A few tiny, barely visible smudges, very slightly yellowed in places.
