Indochina, late 19th century. A large tripod bronze incense burner with copper and silver niello decoration depicting various scenes of imperial daily life. Three Buddhist lions serve as handles, with three others forming the three feet. The double lotus base, evoking ruyis, is decorated with scholars' objects and centred on the character of happiness.
