INDUS VALLEY PAINTED JAR WITH BIRDS Ca. 1900 - 1400 BC.
A biconical terracotta jar with a short neck and a flat base. The upper section is decorated with two figural panels separated by fields with a fish-scale pattern in red and black. One panel depicts a large bird, possibly a peacock, facing left, flanked by leafy branches. Another shows a geometric bird with striped wings. A wavy band circles the neck, and linear bands encircle the lower part of the vessel.
