INDUS VALLEY PAINTED TERRACOTTA BOWL WITH ANIMALS
Ca. 2400 - 2000 BC.
A terracotta bowl with a wide conical body on a flat foot and a rounded rim. The interior is decorated in black with a central medallion encircled by a ring of concentric circles and dotted roundels. Three radiating registers divide the composition, each containing stylised animal motifs: fish, a peacock, a bull, and abstract vegetal elements. The rim is bordered by black bands.
