INDUS VALLEY POTTERY BULL - TL TESTED.
Ca. 2200 - 1800 BC. A terracotta bull with a compact head, upright horns flanking a tall cylindrical element, and small pointed ears above a short muzzle with an incised mouth. A heavy dewlap descends from the throat; a prominent dorsal hump rises at the withers above a long, straight back. The body stands on four stout columnar legs with lightly indicated hooves. Size: 300mm x 270mm; Weight: 2.07kg Provenance: From the collection of a London gentleman; formerly acquired in early 2000s in Belgium; previously in 1970s European collection. This piece has been precisely dated using a thermoluminescence analysis carried out by Ralf Kotalla. The report will accompany the lot. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
