INDUS VALLEY TERRACOTTA FERTILITY IDOL.
Ca. 2500 BC
A hand-modelled terracotta female fertility idol seated with the legs set apart, the elongated head with a high arching headpiece framing a stylised face with deep recessed eyes and hooked nose, the torso with rounded breasts, narrow waist and short forearms, a raised band across the chest forming a necklace.
Size: 115mm x 35mm; Weight: 35g.
Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; formerly in a Swiss private collection formed in the 1990s.
