INDUS VALLEY TERRACOTTA FERTILITY IDOL.
Ca. 2500 BC
A slender terracotta female fertility idol depicted seated, with rounded breasts and a broad necklace on the chest, the forearms brought forward, and the head enclosed in an enveloping headpiece framing recessed circular eyes and an elongated nose.
Size: 125mm x 40mm; Weight: 35g.
Provenance: Private London collection; acquired in Germany; formerly in a Swiss private collection formed in the 1990s.
