INDUS VALLEY TERRACOTTA FISH DISH Ca. 2600 - 1800 BC.
A terracotta dish with a broad, convex rim and slightly recessed central field. The decoration, applied in black on a buff-orange surface, consists of three stylised fish swimming in parallel, each with prominent circular eyes, zigzag dorsal lines, and banded fins. The fish are enclosed within four concentric rings. The rim is decorated with five evenly spaced groups of short strokes arranged in radiating clusters.
