INDUS VALLEY TERRACOTTA PAINTED JAR WITH GEOMETRIC MOTIF Ca. 2600 - 1800 BC. A terracotta jar with a globular body tapering to a flat base, a sharply angled shoulder, and a short neck with an outwardly thickened rim. The upper body is decorated in black and red over a reddish-orange ground with a continuous pattern of overlapping pointed petals arranged in interlocking rosettes. A set of four parallel horizontal lines encircles the lower body, separating the decorated zone from the undecorated base. Additional bands are painted around the rim and neck.
