From 1962 to 1968 she studied at the Academy of Applied Arts in Vienna. From 1976 to 1988, Höllwarth held a teaching position at the Mozarteum in her hometown of Salzburg. From 1983 to 1999 she worked as a museum educator at the Museum der Moderne Salzburg Altstadt (Rupertinum). From 1985 to 2001 she worked in Salzburg as curator of the exhibitions on the Goldegger Dialogues. Ines Höllwarth was a member of the Berufsvereinigung Bildender Künstler Sektion Salzburg (Professional Association of Fine Artists Section Salzburg). She was its president from 2000 to 2002. In 1976 Höllwarth was awarded the Anton Faistauer Prize. She received the Karl Weiser Prize in 1995. Many of Höllwarth's works were purchased by the public sector. Her work has been shown at exhibitions at home and abroad.
