FRANCE LIBRE BADGE BELONGING TO GENERAL CHARLES DE GAULLE In brass, enamelled with the cross of Lorraine, without the inscription "France libre", the reverse with the vertical inscription "REGd n° 83830". B.E. 34 x 16 mm With provenance paper "Croix de Lorraine. Badge belonging to and worn by General de Gaulle. He alone wore this badge, which was given to me by Mme de Gaulle". This model of badge, without the words "FRANCE LIBRE", can be seen on the portrait of General de Gaulle in Edinburgh (Scotland) in 1942 and on the photograph of the General in front of the BBC microphone used to illustrate the appeal of 18 June 1940.
