T. B. Historical background . Captain de Gaulle's two stays in Poland from April 1919 to May 1920, then from June 1920 to the end of January 1921, are a relatively unknown part of his life. As part of General Henrys' mission to train the Polish army, he was an instructor at the Rembertów infantry school. During his last stay, he would take part in the operations of the Russo-Polish War, within the 3rd office of Army Group South (then Centre) commanded by Polish General Rydz-Smigły.
