Historical background :
In the correspondence of Colonel Charles de Gaulle, we find the following statement:
A tank must have its own personality like a ship," he said. You can die for the Redoutable or the Wagram, but not for the 027.D2".
The list of the 44 tanks in the 507 RCC's inventory shows that most of them were named after French victories, such as the Wagram (no. 2005). Some of the names of these tanks are still unknown to us.
The christening of the tanks of the 507th Tank Regiment was organised on 26 June 1938 by Colonel de Gaulle on the occasion of the regiment's fête, under the chairmanship of General Giraud, Military Governor of Metz. There is a letter from the colonel to Colonel Noettinger's wife inviting her to become the godmother of the "Insidieux":
"Your godson, launched across the varied terrain of the manoeuvring fields - and perhaps tomorrow the battlefields - will pay tribute to his godmother by serving France to the best of his ability".
