IRAN, QAJAR PERIOD, 19TH CENTURY.
Helmet known as a kulah khud
made of steel inlaid with gold and silver, engraved with interlaced foliage. The border is decorated with epigraphs. Two pencil holders on the front frame a nasal. The lower edge has an iron mesh camail.
The spike at the top of the helmet is missing, and the screw fixing the nasal is not original. H: 58 cm including camail.
Provenance: former collection of J. Naus, customs inspector in Iran in the early 20th century.
