L'actrice américaine Gabrielle Union a porté cette robe créée sur mesure pour la soirée du Met Gala au profit du Costume Institute en 2021. La robe 'Aeternus' est composée de plus de 10 000 sphères, découpées deux fois, au ciseau et au laser, puis superposées selon des dégradés de taille dans un tissu 'liquide' blanc translucide. Les sphères sont ensuite cousues individuellement à la main pour créer une illusion d'optique sans couture d'où jaillissent des vagues tridimensionnelles en apesanteur. Ce travail minutieux et complexe a nécessité plus de 1 400 heures de fabrication. Les recettes seront reversées à l'Amazon Conservation Association et de la Rainforest Trust Foundation. The 'Aeternus' Gown is composed of over 10,000 spheres, cut and layered in size gradients from a translucent white 'liquid' fabric and laser cut with a fine silver reflective outline. The spheres are then handstitched individually to create a seamless and multilevel optical illusion from which three-dimensional waves flare out weightlessly. The delicate and most intricate handwork took over 1,400 hours of making alone. All proceed will be donated in support of the Amazon Conservation Association and Rainforest Trust Foundation.
