ISOCRATE. Λόγοι και ἐπιστολαί. Orationes et epistolæ, cum latina interpretatione Hieronymi Wolfii. S.l. [Genève], Henri Estienne, 1593. 4 parts in one volume in-folio, fawn morocco basane, gilt lace, boards decorated with semé de fleurs de lys with a large gilt emblem in the centre, spine decorated in the same manner, gilt edges (17th century binding). Esteemed edition of the works of Isocrates, giving on two columns the Greek text and the Latin translation established by Hieronymus Wolf and revised by Henri Estienne, who added seven Diatribæ or dissertations on the great Athenian rhetorician. This was Henri Estienne's last major work, and his last folio edition of a classic text. He dedicated it to Marcus Fugger. A copy bound with the arms of the parliament of Normandy, offered as a prize by the archiepiscopal college of Rouen, with a handwritten ex-præmio dated 1678. From the library of Charles Lormier (1903, III, n°1779), lawyer and collector from Rouen, founder of the Société des Bibliophiles Normands in 1863, with bookplate.
