Itō Shinsui (Japan, 1898-1972) Two complete sets of thirty-nine prints, dai oban tate-e, showing the various stages of printing Kami (髪), The Hair. Including the final plate, signed Shinsui ga, Shikuntei stamp. Mica. Dated Showa 27 (1952) on the box. Dim. 51,9 x 37 cm. This set in its original box is made up of two series: the first (39 plates) where the prints from each plate are added one after the other to each new sheet to produce the final drawing, and the second (39 plates) where the prints from each plate appear separately on separate sheets. This plate was commissioned to mark the designation of Shinsui's talent as an intangible cultural asset (Mukei Bunkazai Gijutsu Hozon) in 1952. Original wooden box. ~
