This medal commemorating the capture of Capri in 1808 was not struck until 1813, with the obverse corner engraved by Jaley in 1811. The capture of Capri was carried out by General Lamarque, Murat's aide-de-camp, who obtained the surrender of the British general Hudson Lowe, who was to be found a few years later on the island of Saint Helena, where the Emperor in exile nicknamed him the hero of Capri.
