White marble. Mounted with a rod on a cubic base of black, white-veined marble, bevelled at the top. Decorative head after the well-known ancient Roman original in the Museum Centrale Montemartini in Rome, discovered during the excavation of a large Roman private residence in the garden of the Villa Rivaldi during the construction of the Via dell'Impero (today Via dei Fori Imperiali) in 1932 (Capitoline Museums, Sculpture Inventory S 2304). Height of head approx. 28 cm; height of face approx. 59 cm.
