Sleeping Cupid
Alabaster. Fully sculpted depiction in the style of François Duquesnoy (1597 - 1643). Cupid lying on the left side of his body in a deep sleep, partially covered by a cloth, the quiver of arrows under his head, holding the bow with his right hand. The sculpture is stylistically based on the works of François Duquesnoy, but the motif is inspired by the painting by Caravaggio (1571 - 1610) from 1608. Sculpture approx. 30 cm x 58 cm x 30 cm; plinth approx. 7 cm x 65 cm x 32 cm.
