Jones model was created to commemorate Florentine Ariosto Jones, the daring American businessman who founded IWC in Schaffhausen in 1868. The model was produced in stainless steel, limited edition to 3000 pieces, such as the present watch, in 18K pink gold, limited edition to 1000 pieces, and in platinum, limited edition to 500 pieces. Widely inspired by IWC early pocket watch design, the movement caliber 98290, pays tribute to the original "Jones Calibre" family of movements which brought IWC its initial fame. The caliber 98290 incorporates signature elements from the original pocket watch calibre 98, manufactured in the 1860s and 1870s, such as an elongated index which extends down from the balance cock, allowing adjustment of the balance beat, which at 18'000 vibrations per hour, is true to its historical predecessors.
