IZNIK POTTERY PLATE Turkey, Ottoman Empire, ca. 1580-1620. Painted in cobalt blue, sage green and bole-red engobe. Decorated with a saz leaf among roses, carnations, tulips and hyacinths growing out of tall grass. The lip with a stylized “breaking waves” border in blue, black and green. The back with six stylized blue leaf motifs. Ø 25.5 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Geneva, since the 1960s/70s. Bemalt in Kobaltblau, Salbeigrün und Bolus-Rot engobiert. Mit einem Saz-Blatt zwischen Rosen, Nelken, Tulpen und Hyazinthen, die aus hohem Gras emporranken. Die Fahne mit einer stilisierten „breaking waves” Bordüre in Blau, Schwarz und Grün. Auf der Rückseite sechs blaue stilisierte Blattmotive. Ø 25,5 cm.
