IZNIK POTTERY PLATE Turkey, Ottoman Empire, ca. 1600. Painted in bole-red engobe, blue and green with roses, carnations and tulips climbing out of tall grass. The lip with a stylized “breaking waves” border in black. The back with alternating circle and leaf motifs in green and blue framed by black line borders. The foot ring is perforated for mounting. Ø 29 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Geneva, since the 1960s/70s. Mit Rosen, Nelken, Tulpen, die aus hohem Gras emporranken. Auf der Fahne eine stilisierte „breaking waves” Bordüre in Schwarz. Die Rückseite mit alternierenden Kreis- und Blattmotiven in Grün und Blau umrahmt von schwarzen Linienbordüren. Standring durchbohrt zur Hängung. Ø 29 cm.
