IZNIK POTTERY PLATE Turkey, Ottoman Empire, early 17th century. Painted in bole-red engobe, green and blue. Decorated with a saz leaf between roses, tulips and hyacinths, growing out of tall grass. The lip with a stylized “breaking waves” border in black. The back with eight flower motifs in green. Ø 29.5 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Geneva, since the 1960s/70s. Bemalt in Bolus-Rot engobiert, Grün und Blau. Mit einem Saz- Blatt zwischen Rosen, Tulpen, Hyazinthen, die aus hohem Gras emporranken. Auf der Fahne eine stilisierte „breaking waves” Bordüre in Schwarz. Die Rückseite mit acht Blütenmotiven in Grün. Ø 29,5 cm. Provenienz: Privatsammlung, Genf, seit den 1960/70er Jahren.
