IZNIK POTTERY PLATE Turkey, Ottoman Empire, probably 16th century. Painted in moss green, light blue and bole-red engobe. Decorated with a saz leaf, roses and carnations, emerging from tall grass. The lip with a stylized “breaking waves” border in black, green and blue. The back with a stylized rosette pattern in blue and green. Ø 29.8 cm. Provenance: Private collection, Geneva, since the 1960s/70s. Bemalt in Moosgrün, hellem Blau und Bolus-Rot engobiert. Mit einem Saz-Blatt, Rosen und Nelken, die aus hohem Gras emporranken. Die Fahne mit einer stilisierten „breaking waves” Bordüre in Schwarz, Grün und Blau. Auf der Rückseite stilisierte Rosettenmotive in Blau und Grün. Ø 29,8 cm.
