JACOPO NEGRETTI known as PALMA THE YOUNGER (Venice, 1548 - 1628) Resurrection of Christ Oil on canvas, 159X211 cm Provenance: London, Sotheby's, 21 April 1993, lot 111 (as Palma the Younger) Bibliography: https://rkd.nl/imageslite/1535099 Of parietal dimensions, the work is compared to the Resurrection of Christ intended for the Venetian church of San Giuliano Martire, which, dated 1581-1582, may offer a possible chronological reference. Having said this, the theme was tackled by the artist on several occasions, as attested by canvases in the Accademia in Venice and in the bell tower of San Nicola vescovo. These works show the fusion of the tintoretto manner with the Roman and Tuscan culture derived from Zuccari and Salviati implemented by the artist after his stay in Rome (1573-1574).
