Jacques Blin is a French ceramicist renowned for his poetic style and his finely engraved designs inspired by birds, animals and nature. After beginning his career as an engineer, he devoted himself entirely to ceramics in the 1950s. His creations are characterised by their clean lines, soft-toned glazes and delicately incised motifs that tell stories. He exhibited, notably, at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs in Paris throughout the 1950s and 1960s, as well as at the International Exhibition of Contemporary Ceramics in Prague, where he was awarded a gold medal in 1962. His work is now regarded as a major reference point in 20th-century French ceramics.
