JAIN OF TIRTHANKARA In bronze with a light brown patina Depicted seated in "Padmasana" under an architectural mandorla and surrounded by deities. Sanskrit inscriptions on the reverse India, late 19th century H. 18 cm high Note: In Jainism, the Tirthankara are the masters who have succeeded in reaching Kevala Jnana (the stage of omniscience for Jainists). According to tradition, there are 720 of them, but only 24 are venerated.
