Our allegory of the day was imagined by James Pradier with its counterpart, La Nuit, which, unlike our marble, pulls the large veil she wears on her back over her head. In our sculpture, we find all the grace and elegance of our artist in the representation of women, through the exaltation of this body with its perfectly defined proportions. Pradier's sculptural aesthetic is truly romantic, constructed through the prism of a fantasised Antiquity and a neo-Mannerism that was in vogue at the time.
