The arcades of the market hall in a harbour town are bustling with activity: numerous visitors, including children and a dog, stroll along the stalls, between the vendors with vendor's trays, examining, tasting and haggling over the cheese on offer. A representative work in style and subject by Langendyk, who worked as a draughtsman and graphic artist and was the son and pupil of Dirk Langendyk (1748-1805).
