The artist is known for his Italianising landscapes, showing a style influenced by Nicolaes Berchem. The artist's catalogue contains very few works and quite a few also show themes and motifs inspired by Philips Wouwerman, a feature not uncommon in many Antwerp painters of the second half of the 17th century. Whether this is an indication of an active period in Haarlem remains uncertain, as is his presence in Italy from 1665 to 1668, which would seem to be documented by a view signed and dated 1668 of unknown location today (sale Amsterdam, Mak van Waay, 8 October 1973, not illustrated).
