Jan and Joël Martel (1896 Nantes - 1966 Paris) after Standing female nude Bronze, dark patina. Posthumous, contemporary cast, 21st century, after the original created around 1930. The twins Jean and Joël Martel were among the most important French sculptors in the second quarter of the 20th century; they created sculptures, reliefs, monuments and fountains in the Art Deco or Cubist style; in the 1920s they also designed furnishings and interiors for villas, sometimes in collaboration with Jean Prouvé and Charlotte Perriand. They shared the same studio and worked so closely together that they eventually only signed their names "Martel". The Martel brothers took part in Parisian exhibitions at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon d'Automne, the Salon des Tuileries and the Exposition of Decorative Arts in 1925. H. 63.7 cm.
