JAPAN - Kaiken, 19th century, the saya scabbard in black lacquer with gold lacquer decoration of flowering tree branches, the tsuka handle in greenish braiding on a white shagreen background, including a pair of menuki depicting cranes. The finely carved metal kashira matches the habaki decorated with pine trees and pavilions with a greyish-green patina.
The blade is straight, with some dirt and minor damage to the edge. Accompanied by its kogatana, the metal kozuka decorated with two shishi on a nanako background and blade engraved with a horimono.
