JAPAN - Katana, late Edo period, the saya scabbard in black and gold "nashiji" lacquer, fitted with a koiguchi showing traces of wear, a khaki green sageo and a brown lacquered wooden kuri-gata, ending in a kojiri decorated with motifs matching the fittings. The burgundy braided tsuka handle on a white shagreen background includes a pair of menuki in the shape of a kabuto and sabre. The openwork iron kashira is engraved with linear motifs, revealing the shagreen. The fuchi with bamboo leaf decoration matches the iron tsuba with gold hira zoga decoration of leafy branches The iori munel-backed blade;, signed "濃州住石原直胤作" (Nōshū jū Ishihara Naotane saku).
