Jean-Claude Silbermann (Boulogne-Billancourt, 1935) To be opened in case of danger Collage, ink, metal, small glass vial on cardboard in a leather and red velvet box Signed with initials on cardboard lower right 38×28cm Provenance : - Sale Paris, Loudmer, 12 October 1994 - Geneviève and Jean-Paul Kahn Collection, Paris Note: He created his first work for the Exposition inteRnatiOnale du Surréalisme organised in 1959 at the Daniel Cordier gallery in Paris. Silbermann exhibited a box in Mimi Parent's Crypte du fétichisme. Following this experience, he made a number of boxes, including lot 33, before devoting himself to the wooden "enseignes sournoises" that he exhibited from 1964 onwards (see lot 48).
