Proof in hammer-mounted copper dinanderie with a nuanced brown patina and inlaid with silver. The decorative turning frieze entirely embellished with juxtaposed feathers. Signed and dated "Jean DUNAND 1914" under the heel. Presented on a black marble base resting on four ball feet. Made in 1914, it was presented at the Salon de la Nationale in Paris in 1914 alongside other pieces, bowls, trays, vases and boxes. * This creation is a historic and important work that marked the revival of artistic metalwork, a field that would occupy a major place in the arts and crafts until the Second World War, and that launched Jean Dunand's career as the most famous coppersmith of the 20th century. * Acquired from a French collection and passed down through the generations.
