Jean-Jacques MANTZER known as "MANSER" (1727-1775/1780) Rosewood and violetwood veneered flap desk with butterfly wings in filleted frames with Greek decor spandrels, the flap revealing niches and drawers and presenting a gilded black leather background. It opens with a drawer at the top and two full doors at the bottom. The canted uprights rest on four straight legs and are topped with a grey Sainte Anne Belgian marble top. Stamped Jean-Jacques Mantzer dit Manser (practised in the Grande rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine in 1758, baptised in 1727 and died probably between 1775 and 1780), son-in-law of the cabinetmaker Nicolas-Henry Topino and brother-in-law of Charles Topino. Transition period - 18th century Height 141 cm - Width: 80 cm - Depth: 38 cm (restorations, some missing leather)
