Bibliography
* Make China one of the provinces of Rococo. This is how the Goncourts described the craze for exoticism in vogue in the 18th century, a craze illustrated by the curiosity and creativity of François Boucher. Inspired by Boucher's compositions for the Beauvais manufactory, the Aubusson manufactory in turn produced a Chinese hanging based on Joseph Dumons' cartoons, including at least sixteen different themes such as The Hunt, The Toilet and The Dance. Jean-François Picon, the King's dyer. Aubusson wove it several times between 1750 and 1775 with a cabochon border. The cabochon border can be found on the weavings of The Gardener and The Chinese Meal, illustrated in Dario Boccara, Les Belles Heures de la Tapisserie, Zug, 1971, p. 197 and 206.
