Jean Lambert-Rucki created the sculpture of the Stations of the Cross in the Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Trinité in Blois. It comprises 14 large panels, each measuring 2.5 m high by 4.5 m long. The work was carried out entirely on site, using direct modelling on fresh cement. Our plaster version is a preparatory sketch for one of the stations of the cross visible in the basilica.
The Basilica of Notre-Dame de la Trinité in Blois: representative of the religious architecture of the 1930s, the building was decorated by a number of artists: sculptors Joël and Jean Martel, Jean Lambert-Rucki and André Bizette-Lindet, upholsterers Jean and Karine Barillet, goldsmith Jean Puiforcat and master glassmakers Louis Barillet, Jacques Le Chevallier and Théodore Hanssen.
